Squeeze on Petroleum Products Market Participants Still Exists

Squeeze on Petroleum Products Market Participants Still Exists

On March 1, in view of the continued squeeze on petroleum products market participants by control services, the follow-up meeting was held. Representatives of field-specific associations of Ukraine, importing companies, producers of petroleum products and equipment for oil and gas industry were present at the meeting.

Participants of the event reported that, apart from the SSU, the National Police Economic Security Department, the State Fiscal Service and other authorities show additional and systematic interest in their operations, and consideration of cases on locked tanks unblocking is deliberately delayed in courts. For that reason, in spite of partial and selective removal of sanctions, the affected importers are ready to keep on defending their rights up to complete market unblocking.

In return, the Oil and Gas Association of Ukraine keeps up with attempts to influence on the situation meaningfully. Within January-February, we coordinated official inquiries to the Presidential Administration of Ukraine to Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman, Vice Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, head of the National Security and Defence Council Aleksander Turchinov; to field-specific ministries, committees, people’s deputies; to other Ukrainian and international organizations with strong request to assist with solving the conflict. A series of meetings with various stakeholders have been conducted and are scheduled.

The attempts to limit competition, market monopolization risks, which in its turn threatens with the next upsurge in inflation in the country, is the utmost concern of Oil and Gas Association of Ukraine participants. We keep on planning to take every legal actions to ensure civilized operation of the petroleum products market in Ukraine.
