Ukrainian Oil & Gas Association’s Position Regarding the OKKO Petrol Station Incident.

Ukrainian Oil & Gas Association’s Position Regarding the OKKO Petrol Station Incident.

Ukrainian Oil & Gas Association would like to voice its views on the events of October 4, when “activists” and locals destroyed the OKKO filling station being built on the Revutskogo Str. in Kyiv. In total, 14 people were injured on both sides and facility owners’ property was damaged.

It is our conviction that in a civilised democratic state, outright barbarism and disregard for legislation are unacceptable. In fact, this is an act of banditry, no matter what these people with bats and tires may call their actions.

Clearly, it is the shadow fuel market structures, which experience hard times in Kyiv nowadays, that are behind these thugs who smashed the gas station.

The law enforcement agencies’ failure to protect the law and stop provocations is especially perplexing. Hopefully, further investigation of the incident will be objective, and the perpetrators will be punished.

Companies of the Ukrainian Oil & Gas Association have a positive business reputation, operate within the framework of Ukrainian legislation and adhere to the principles of civilised business. We are always ready for a constructive dialogue on any disputable issues and believe that this dialogue should also be civilised.
