The Government Changes the Technical Regulations for Petroleum Products
On September 23, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution developed by the Ministry of Energy, which amends the Technical Regulations on the requirements for motor gasoline, diesel, marine and boiler fuels. This was reported by the press service of the government. This regulatory document was developed with the direct participation of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Association (UOGA).
The technical regulations establish unified mandatory environmental requirements for gasoline, diesel fuel and gas oil in accordance with European standards, this will help prevent the traffic of low-quality fuels on the domestic market of Ukraine, which pollute the environment and negatively affect the operation of cars.
Also, the new regulation introduces a mechanism that allows to reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the environment, as for marine fuel — reduces the sulfur content in accordance with the requirements of the EU Council Directive.
Changes in the technical regulations will also help to streamline the procedure for issuing quality documents, both imported and domestic fuel.
Changes to the technical regulations will take effect 6 months after publication.
